I bought this for my niece (since she has become intrigued with learning the tarot) but I had it for myself also (just didn't wish to give up my own copy.) This is truly one of the best books I have come across for the beginner. It is devoid of any specific deck and so targets the generalities in a manner that has the cards broken down into its basic components: number, court figure, themes of the major arcana, etc. The author explains the tarot so that it can best be understood as kind of a poetic story. Love it! Love it! Love it!
